Well the weather might be getting chillier, but there are still plenty of reasons to get out and about in the dance sector!

Following the extraordinary success of their 20th anniversary tour last year, Bangarra Dance Theatre will present of earth & sky, an original and evocative double bill inspired by contrasting traditional and contemporary themes and examining the fusion of dance and visual art.

Duncan Holt, from Hull University presented a paper at the 2008 World Dance Alliance Global Summit,  held in Brisbane, that addresses notions of how one might explore dance-making in reference to an accumulation in practice that is referential to its past and reverential of those who have influenced and guided that development.

Australian Dance Week: May 3 – 9, 2010

Australian Dance Week raises the profile, and focuses on the values, importance and the many cultural contributions of dance to the Australian community. Professional companies, independent artists, community dance groups, students and the general public joined this national celebration of dance during Australian Dance Week 2010.

Ausdance NSW and industry partners treated dance enthusiasts to an impressive array of dance performan

Following the overwhelming success of Spring Dance in 2009, the Sydney Opera House is bringing the program back this year.

Running from 31 August – 26 September, the program is an exciting mix of local and international dance performances, including the MyMutation dance competition that attracted 250,000 participants last year.

The 2010 Australian Dance Awards took place in front of a full-house of Australia’s top dance creators and performers at Melbourne’s Arts Centre, State Theatre on 20th June.

A Side to One received initial funding from an Arts SA Professional Development grant.   Beginning with research with Critical Path's Responsive Programme the work had first and second development stages, supported by a residency with ADT Enhanced and The Performance Space.  We have presented a small exert as part of Carriage Works 'Night Time' Season. A Side To One has been funded by Arts SA, Critical Path and the Australian Council.

This is a story of a work in development by Anton, a Choreographer/Director who has been making dance work since the age of 23.  He has worked with Dance North, Australian Dance Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company, Shaun Parker, Meryl Tankard and Tanja Liedkte, amongst many others. NSW choreographer Shaun Parker has taken up residence at Sydney’s Seymour Centre in 2010, as part of an expanded Arts Bunker program, dedicated to fostering Australia’s next creative heavy hitters.
